First Clean-up Excursion in Huanchaco, Trujillo

Revitalizing Huanchaco Beach: Collaborative Cleanup Efforts

It is enough to have a small group of people interested in doing something for our planet, our land and our city. On this occasion together with our friends from the Sumaq Allpa Foundation, from the University of Trujillo (UNT) they participated with us in an afternoon of cleaning the beach of Huachaco in La Libertad, Peru.

After a lot of hard work, we managed to recover many types of plastics and other types of rubbish. Among the solid waste found we managed to recover mostly different types of plastics, such as: plastic bags, straws, disposable cutlery, pieces of PVC pipes, among others. Most of this pollution is generated by the irresponsibility of tourists and citizens in general. In this seaside resort…

Our commitment is to promote environmental education, focusing also on sustainable consumption. We know that nowadays we depend on a material that has been very useful to us and that we use together with others in our day to day life; and that is plastic, which comes in different types. Among the most used we have PET or Polyurethane Terephthalate, used in plastic bottles.

Donkya to intervene in Lambayeque’s high Andean communities.

Donkya's Impact in Lambayeque: Advancing Sustainable Farming Practices

23 February 2023 News

Thanks to the successful experience of growing tubers, vegetables and cereals in bio-gardens, achieved by villagers in the high Andean communities of Lambayeque, the Donkya Foundation, based in Austria, will intervene in this department to continue promoting sustainable agricultural practices.

This was announced by its representative in our country, Anyelisa Yesquen, who together with the regional manager of Agriculture, Felicita Tocto Guerrero, and the Engineer Renzo Carrillo Gonzáles, visited the community of Shita, in Incahuasi, where they participated in the harvest of beetroot, onion and cabbage grown in a bio-garden.

“Fundación Donkya was created with the aim of conserving and restoring ecosystems, promoting biodiversity and fostering a local and autonomous food supply through biodiversity and sustainable agricultural practices. We are committed to ecological and sustainable agriculture using the permaculture approach,” said Anyelisa Yesquen.

Yesquen said Donkya seeks to sow education and create tools that will enable us to support our farmers in creating sustainable bio-gardens with seeds of grains, medicinal plants and vegetables, thus living in harmony with nature.  It is a community initiative that emerged with the aim of doing something for the earth, for this environment that we inhabit and which we use, our planet.

We are starting in Colombia!

Expanding Initiatives: Donkya Launches Projects in Colombia's Risaralda Region

Continuing our work in the communities of Peru. We are proud to inaugurate our education and planting projects now in Colombia, specifically in the Risaralda region.

On the path of working and sharing the preservation of the earth through our projects, we can now promote this message of love and care in Colombia, a country that stands out with natural qualities and beauties. Our Project Leaders will begin in the city of Pereira by creating planting and education centers for the conservation of native seeds and soil regeneration. Among the programmes in the DONKYA in Colombia association, the Gardens of Life project is designed to work together with therapeutic communities with methodologies based on agro-cultivation, permaculture and the connection and care of nature.

The Gardens of Life Project is designed to educate and train the members of the community in natural spaces on the care and preservation of the environment, giving a direct participation to each of the members through the cycle of the whole process of cultivation that we call “wheel of the garden and life”.
